COVID-19 Protocol

Home » COVID-19 Protocol

I am pleased to announce that I will be re-opening the clinic from Monday 1st June. This decision was made after the guidelines for safe practice from the General Osteopathic Council and the Institute of Osteopathy were updated. I have been guided by the Institute of Osteopathy during the global pandemic who have consistently given guidance on how we should operate.

I understand that many of you might be apprehensive and nervous about leaving your homes and visiting clinical settings, but I would like to reassure you that new stringent safety measures which follow government and Public health England guidelines have been put in place for your safety.

Measures put in place to keep you safe include:

AN ONLINE PRE-APPOINTMENT COVID-19 SCREENING SURVEY

A process to pre-screen patients to determine if you are in a risk category or have symptoms before you come into the practice. Two hours prior to appointments a clinical survey will be emailed to all patients asking you screening questions about potential Covid-19 exposure and to assess if it suitable for you to attend the clinic. Failure to complete this form will Unfortunately mean that I will be unable to treat you. I also request that once completed, if any of your answers change prior to your appointment, please notify me immediately.

ATTENDING YOUR APPOINTMENT

I request that you arrive at your appointment time and no earlier and preferably alone to minimise contact. The chairs in the waiting area have been removed, so if you are early please wait in your car, where I will greet you and check your temperature with a non-contact infrared thermometer. Once inside all patients will be asked to wash or sanitise their hands.

HYGIENE PROTOCOLS

All clinic linens such as plinth covers, and pillowcases will be removed. Pillowcases with be replaced with medical grade pillow covers. Non-essential items will be removed from the clinic room to avoid the potential of potential virus transmission. I will wear recommended standard PPE, including a face Mask, Visor, Apron and Gloves throughout the appointment. As the 2-metre rule cannot be adhered I will ask you to use the disposable face masks provided, or bring your own if you have one. All PPE will be changed and disposed of appropriately between patients and I will be running through a strict regime of washing my hands between patients. Surfaces will be disinfected before and after each appointment. The flooring in common areas and the clinic room will be cleaned between patients using suitable bleached-based products or a steam cleaner.Appointment times have been adapted to allow adequate time to aerate the room for 20 minutes and implement infection control procedures between patients. Social distancing will be implemented by ensuring there is no crossover of patient appointment times. Please arrive promptly for your appointment.

Please note that as information and guidance are ever-changing I will be updating these policies regularly. With the priority being your well-being please be assured that I will have no hesitation in closing the clinic again should infection rates spike. If you have any concerns, questions or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me.
